Restoring a painting is a delicate and complex process that aims to preserve and revitalize artwork while maintaining its historical and artistic integrity

Reversible materials and techniques are used to ensure that any future restorations can be performed without affecting the original artwork.

Treatments provided:

  • Cleaning the surface from dirt and grime
  • Varnish removal
  • Consolidation of flaking or loose paint
  • Structural Repair such tears and holes in the canvas
  • Structural stabilization by having the canvas relined or restretched to provide structural support.
  • Retouching missing or damaged areas to restore the painting’s visual continuity.
  • Varnishing: A protective layer of varnish may be applied to the restored painting to protect the paint surface and enhance its appearance.

Sculpture

Sculpture restoration is a complex process that varies significantly depending on the materials and the extent of damage. Every artwork requires a careful and methodical approach, keeping in mind ethical considerations

Reversibility: Whenever possible, restoration treatments should be reversible, meaning they can be undone if necessary.

Compatibility: All restoration materials must be compatible with the original material to avoid causing further damage.

Ceramic

Restoring a ceramic piece requires a delicate touch and a deep understanding of ceramic materials.

Consultation with the client is key to discuss expectations, as in most cases, there’s the option between an invisible restoration or a minimal intervention, leaving intact some marks of a past life.

  • Surface Cleaning:
  • Removal of old Repairs:
  • Bonding broken fragments
  • Filling, casting and shaping losses
  • Retouching: The restored areas are carefully retouched to match the surrounding color and texture
  • Final finishing: A protective coating may be applied to the restored areas to enhance durability and protect the surface.

If the ceramic object is glazed, the restored areas may be glazed to match the original finish.
